About

About Librebooks

Librebooks makes public-domain literature readable in many languages. The originals are Project Gutenberg ebooks. Translations are produced by an AI language model and narrations by AI text-to-speech, both run on our own infrastructure. No reading data is sent to third-party translation or speech services.

AI editions

Each translated or narrated edition says so on its title page and in the catalog. Machine translation and synthetic speech can be wrong; when it matters, check the original. Derived editions do not carry the Project Gutenberg name or licence, as the Project Gutenberg trademark licence requires; the originals are distributed unchanged with their licence.

Accounts and privacy

An account stores your library list, reading progress, highlights, notes and reading statistics so they sync between devices. Book files themselves come from the shared library. You can delete your account and all of its data at any time from the account page in the reader.
